Road and highway construction continues to be a highlight risk factor for road safety if it is true that in 2022 construction site accident they left 31 dead and 128 injured. Numbers down slightly compared to 2021 but still significant. Obviously the most claimed region, along with Piedmont, was there Liguriawhich suffers from a presence of construction sites well above average, with all the inconveniences that ensue (and which those who frequent the Ligurian arteries know very well).

ROAD ACCIDENTS DUE TO BUILDINGS: IN 2022 104 SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AND 31 VICTIMS

The statistics on road accidents caused by presence of construction sites was created by the ASAPS Observatory (Association of Supporters and Friends of the Road Police), which registered in 2022 104 claims with victims or injuries (-16.1% compared to 124 in 2021) during which 31 people died (-18.4% on 2021) e 128 were injured (-21%). Among the 31 victims, 8 were workers or masons working on the site. 104 serious accidents in a calendar year may not even seem like a lot, but in reality are so many if we think that road works must be opened in complete safety, respecting very strict rules both for workers at work and for vehicles in transit, but obviously this is often not the case.

ROAD ACCIDENTS ON SITE: ALMOST ALL PREVENTABLE

Back to the numbers construction accidents in 2022, 51 occurred on motorways or separate lanes and 53 on ordinary roads. According to data collected by the ASAPS Observatory, out of the 104 serious episodes, almost all the accidents were caused by the speedof distraction and the absence of a safety distance. This means that by driving more carefully and carefully, many deaths could have been avoided. Not by chance Only one incident was caused by the use of alcohol or drugs. A heavy vehicle was involved in 24 accidents, or 23.1% of events.

We therefore know which regions should pay particular attention to road works.
